The enduring value of Project Moon Dust therefore lies less in proving any particular claim than in illustrating why Cold War secrecy fuelled lasting public suspicion. The United States unquestionably maintained classified recovery capabilities. What remains unproven is whether those capabilities were ever employed at Kecksburg.
